2. Greetings from president Jo Little

Welcome to the ESRS newsletter. At a very successful and enjoyable Congress in
Chania, Crete in August we elected the new Executive Committee of the Society for
the coming two years. I will remain as President for a further term. Professor Gianluca
Brunori (University of Pisa) has been elected to serve as Vice President. In the new
Executive Committee, Professor Mark Shucksmith (Newcastle University) and Senior
lecturer Tiina Silvasti (University of Jyväskylä) will be joined by Professor Vera Majerova
(Czech University of Life Sciences) and Professor David Brown (Cornell).

Professor Kjell Andersson will continue as the treasurer of the Society. Nevertheless,
our long term secretary Minna Lehtola has stepped down. The ESRS expresses
warm gratitude for Minna, who has worked effectively for our Society.

We are looking forward to a productive two years planning events, including the 2013 Congress. Before then, however, Professor Leo Granberg (University of Helsinki) will be organising the 2012 Summer School in Finland.

In Chania we increased our membership and I would like to take this opportunity to
welcome new members to the ESRS. I hope all members will find the website and
newsletter helpful.
